Troopergate Findings
The Troopergate report was just released and the news is not good for Sarah Palin. The vote by the Republican dominated (10 Republicans, 4 Democrats) Legislative Council to release the report was unanimous. The findings are:
- Sarah Palin violated the state’s executive branch ethics act, which says that “each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”
- Sarah Palin’s firing of Walt Monegan was “a proper and lawful exercise” of the governor’s authority; however, she still abused the power of her office.
- Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Wooten was not the sole reason for his dismissal but that it was a “contributing factor.”
- A workers compensation claim filed by Wooten was handled appropriately.
- The attorney general’s office failed to comply with Branchflower’s Aug. 6 request for information about the case in e-mails.
Although Sarah Palin was within her rights as governor to terminate Walt Monegan, she still abused the power of her office. Sarah Palin knowingly allowed her husband to use government resources to advance her personal vendetta against Trooper Wooten. If she has these ethical issues as a governor, what is going to happen if she gets into the White House?
Sarah Palin as Vice-President is scary. Sarah Palin as President is absolutely terrifying!!
