The New PE, letting your kids get dominated later in life.
What happens when you take the competition out of sports? You have The New PE. There are schools where kids are not allowed to play ta, but instead they play shadow tag. These same kids are forbidden to touch each other at all, and when they hug they “air hug”. The idea behind The New PE is to “guide youngsters in the process of becoming physically active for a lifetime”. That is a nice idea, but in practice it removes any chance of a child failing at something.
I have a major problem with this new method of teaching kids physical fitness. Kids need to be shielded from things early on, but competition and intensity isn’t it. Sports is where kids learn the drive to be better than they currently are. If you don’t learn that early you are destined to not want anything better, and we will be left with a nation of average or below average people. Personally, that would not be good for this country.
